It started without any warning. Your lips pressed together, a breath pushed through, and out came the most gloriously wet, buzzing sound you had ever produced. You paused for just a second, as if checking whether that had actually happened, and then you did it again. And again. We were laughing before we even realised it, watching you figure out this ridiculous superpower you had somehow discovered all on your own. You kept going like a tiny musician who had just found their instrument.

Your first teeth have started making their way through, and your little body is feeling every bit of it. You are doing your best, even on the hard days.
We could tell something was shifting before we even fully understood what it was. You were unsettled in a way that was not quite you, fussier than usual, rubbing your ears with those tiny hands like something deep inside was bothering you. Your fingers found their way into your mouth constantly, and when they were not enough, you searched for anything else that might bring a little relief. It was hard to watch you uncomfortable and not be able to do much more than hold you close and ride it out together. Those little teeth are fighting their way through, and as exhausting as these days have been, we know something new and wonderful is just beneath the surface.

You had your third round of vaccinations at five months old, protected against some big things for such a small person. You came through it just fine, with a little help from Mum and Dad.
Three vaccines in one visit is a lot for little legs, but you handled it with more grace than we expected. We had been giving you Panadol drops ahead of time, determined to get ahead of any discomfort before it had a chance to settle in. There were tears in the moment, the kind that break a parent's heart even when you know it is all for good reason, but you settled quickly and spent the rest of the day peaceful and calm. Watching you rest afterwards, we felt that quiet relief that comes from knowing you are a little more protected than you were that morning. You were so brave, even if you had no idea why any of it was happening.
